That's because the translated katakana name of the color guide is sometimes different from the english name of the GSI creos paints. So if you go on the translated color guide alone, there might be a slim chance that you won't find that GSI Creos paint color in your local hobby shop.An example of the difference between english name and katakana name is with the most common colors found in the Gundam Model kits: Indy Blue and Daytona Green. See, I lost a piece all that time ago, and never did a thing about it, but kept the kit around all these years. Well I decided I would do what I could do, and look into getting a replacement for what was lost and such. I immediately hit a nasty snag. I Had, somehow over the years, Lost The Manual. The Instructions. The Thing That Tells Me How To Build the Damn Thing. While sharing my pain with another Giant Robot fan in the office, he told me of this forum, and suggested someone here might be able to help me. So firstly, does anyone know of a site that has Scans of Gundam Kit Manuals. It occurs to me that Bandai probably won't have much of a problem with that, people buy Gundam Kits for the Models, not the Manuals, after all. Failing an acutal Site, my second course of action was to ask if anyone had the kit in question, and ask if they would be so kind as to scan their manual and let me have a copy. Heh, I remember the thing costing me a fair bit, and being in France at the time. The box has these multi-language stickers on it even. But anyway. Can anyone help me? He's also not that expensive these days, so I may just pick up again, and combine my foolishly painted parts of old with newer more complete parts, since it seems I've lost more over the years than I had realised.Even if they're half decent out of the box they seem to just go to heck sitting on a shelf after a bit and unfortunately it's pretty universal. Instructions are told through detailed images, numbered steps, and symbols. But if you’d like the definitive English translation, we’ve put it together here. Follow the numbers to figure out the corresponding symbol meaning: Like most humanoids, Gunpla are symmetrical. When you see this symbol, you know that there is a corresponding similar part to the one you are currently working with, to be installed on the opposite side. Look at the corresponding picture of the part very carefully. Because of Gunpla symmetry, they tend to have two arms, two legs, etc. If you’re building an arm and see this symbol, you can rest assured that another arm is on its way, assembled with identical steps to the ones you’re following now. Sometimes it’s much easier to install Gunpla parts in a certain order due to their shape once connected. When you see this symbol, it means you’ll get the best result if you attach this part as the last step of the task. This means there are multiple options for which of the parts you want to install. You’ll often see this on a Gunpla that comes with multiple hand orientations (designed to hold different kinds of weapons). Not sure if you accidentally swapped the feet for the left and right legs. If you see this symbol, don’t worry. It means the part will behave the same no matter which side it’s on. Arigato Lauren, and keep up the great work! ?? I happened to see them on my RG assembly manual. I saw a similar icon of reverse colors on my RG kit. The other two I saw were a symbol showing side cutters, and one that has “90 (degrees)” on it. Care to shed light on those? ?? This is a Bearguy, so in order to make it, Bandai simply added a few more components to a regular Acguy. As a result, the Acguy parts are still included in this kit, but we don’t need to use them. It just saves Bandai time and money without inconveniencing us. I scratched one part, but below is a picture of it. Because that is one good-looking Fenice. Your cat thinks so, too!

This is one of the better ones. As with the Gundam Scratchbuild Manual 1 and 2, once you learn the fundamentals you can then in turn apply them to all kinds of models. A key focus on this book seems to be accurately rebuilding parts to match the size, portions and looks they have in the artwork though scratch-building and remodeling before doing the details. The book then begins showing you how that is done in a nice, easy to follow presentation. This is one area that stands out to me as a major advantage, given I don’t fluently or even passable speak Japanese. Throughout the builds they stop and use drawing to break down each individual step of the process. This makes it much easier to follow along and is something I wish to see more of in the future. Because it is broken into smaller steps it also makes it much easier for google’s picture translate to aid you if you choose to decipher the moon-speak. The 2d drawings are beautifully done and quite large so you won’t have to squint to see the steps. It’s quite amazing because if you aren’t a stickler for the details you likely, would never know what was done. They re-detail this and even create a custom base into a standalone display piece. This little flying brick is hacked up and even a small cockpit and pilot are made with a result looking better or on-par to the newer MasterGrade 3.0 kit’s. They take the G30th RX-78 kit that was the comparison in the first build and remodel it to match some custom lineart for the RX-78-2 KA. Like the first gundam they pit the old kit apart and before they even start changing it into the Katoki variant, they modify everything to match the portions their line art has. Once acheived they remodel it into katoki’s detaining while giving it more details and refinement than even the Katoki own Master Grade kit has. This is probably the most love I’ve ever seen put into an RX-78-2 kit and this build alone worth the purchase!

They essentially remodel the HG Gundam into a GM Cannon Space Assault Type with a large portion covering the sculpting of the head and the building of the large over-shoulder cannon. Everything covered in this swift build is pretty much sculpted out of epoxy with a focus on making the parts removable. Sadly, other than key areas, they completely drop the ball on the process of how it is done annoyingly for a disappointing finish. Bookmark the permalink.Notify me of new posts via email. It got me wondering if someone like me, with no building experience, could tackle one of these. I was up for the challenge and decided to purchase my first Gundam Model Kit. Jocelyn had sat me down earlier that week to give me Gundam Building pointers. Jocelyn explained the first thing to know about building Gundams are the Grades and Scales. Understanding these two terms helps to pick your model kit. Jocelyn suggested completing this Gundam kit first before moving onto other scales. Grades: The quality of the parts and level of mastery it takes to complete High Grade - Molded in colors which don’t require painting. This grade is best for beginners. These come with an inner frame (sort of like a skeleton) that you can layer under the armor and external parts. This makes the Gundam model flexible to do different poses. Master Grade - These are sophisticated in detail and the majority come with a skeleton frame. Perfect Grade - Intricate detail, the most expensive, and great for anyone that wants a challenge. Jocelyn suggested I buy a tool kit to help with my first model.

However, instead of purchasing one, I used what I already had: a box cutter, eyebrow tweezer, nail file, and a side cutter. When I first opened my box, I was surprised to find that the Guide Book (instruction manual) was in JAPANESE!! My eyes had to be the size of saucers because Jocelyn chuckled, but reassured me that I didn’t need to know how to read the manual. All I had to do was to follow the letters and numbers in the guide book in order to find and cut the pieces for assembly. Before cutting my first Gundam piece out, Jocelyn had a few more pointers Do not mix Gundam pieces from the same grade and scale. Your Gundam Model Kit is unique to itself. Do not use glue to build your model kit. Glue can ruin your Gundam joints and will cause it to lose flexibility for poses You can build your model kit with a partner. This is a fun activity for children and parents and it’s a great way to introduce someone to modeling. Jocelyn says she got into modeling because of her grandfather You are going to make mistakes. It’s part of the learning process. Gundam model kits take time to master. For example, you might cut a piece too short or chisel the sides that leave stress marks Remember to have fun building your Gundam Model. Jocelyn told me, “There is something about using your own hands to create. Every piece I cut and snap together is thrilling for me to watch. When my Gundam Model kit is completed, I feel a sense of accomplishment that I did something on my own.” After I spoke with Jocelyn, I hoped to feel the same way after completing my model kit. With a little help from my boyfriend, I tackled the challenge. Time-lapse Video of Me Building a Gundam Model Kit After completing my Gundam Model kit, it now sits next to my computer as reminder to myself that I did it. I feel proud of the fact I tried something new. Every time I look at my OWN Gundam figure, I quietly say to myself “You Go Girl.
